23/10/2017 Differences about new and traditional history.

Today, we have done a debate with all the class. We have putted in common the 6 differences that last days, we prepared in pairs and these are:
-          The new history is concerned with every human activity while traditional one is essentially concerned with politics and it included the history of the Church as an institution and war.
-          Traditional historians think of history as essentially a narrative of events, while the new history is more concerned with the analysis of structures.
-          Traditional history offers a view from above, in the sense that it has always concentrated on what great men, statesmen, generals, or churchmen said and did. The rest of humanity was given a minor role in history.
New historians are concerned with 'history from below', in other words with the views of ordinary people and with their experience of social change.
-          In the fourth place traditional paradigm was based on documents. But official records generally express the official point of view but new historians supplemented them by other kinds of sources, like visual.
-          Traditional History fails to take into account the variety of possible historians´questions concerned with collective movements as well as individual actions, with trends as well as events.
-          Histoy is objective. However, cultural relativism applies as much to historical writing itself as to its so-called objects. Our minds do not reflect reality directly. We perceive the world only through a network of conventions, schemata and stereotypes, a network which varies from one culture to another.
Also, we have seen two interesting videos.
As conclusión, I have to say that education has too much to change. Exams aren’t needed to know if we know the lesson or if not, I think that students learn more with practical exercises that with exams because we learn 30 and 50 pages in very Little time and after the exam, almost 50% of these is forggoten.

That is a video where we can see that there are different point of view in cultural aspect, depending on where people come from. The fact is that with two cylinders, one of them is called dugs and its made of Wood, and the other one is made of plastic, and with a rectangular, people have to say if the other dug is the other cylinder or the rectangular. We can see that even with the same things, people from western choose te blue cylinder because it have the same shape but people from easter choose the rectangular because it is made by the same material.
